The Final Presentation

Finally, its time to portray the semesters work as a whole.

The first images show an analysis of the program and site.

*These images are shown apart on the time line and were created at different times - from each other and/or shown here - but always in relation to each other as a result the chronological order is less important (more on the process is available on the presentation time line in the final presentation post and through the blog).

in relation to the program, I decided to sort out the mess and divide the different functions into groups that have common relations and interests. the second image shows a later understanding of the out come. there are now a function - the cafeteria which is the heart of the program and unique passages ran through and by it to the different functions.

The site location and the first isometric view

showing the seperation idea. the corridor is showed in gray.

The diffrent program process and conclusions

On the first panel I showed the process of understanding the new gray area shown in the above isometric view. this corridor was a personal test of an inner passages through geometry the study was developed using models and digital images.

The first model had a simple well know corridor.

I felt, that a place like this is well known, and suffers from

disorientation and alienation.

In the process and I tired to flatten to program elements,

and connect them with a single cardboard straw.

the new form held the basis for the new passage.

During design I laid the principles of this new place.
the corridor will have unique geometry that will change and correspond differently with every program, providing orientation and pertinence. it will be open at certain areas for air and sunlight and have an "outside" feel. the different bending and rounding's will be planed for sitting areas balconies stair-rooms and other functions (ex. open computer room).

A sketch of the above prinicples

The presentaion also required showing the project with its srounding at a 1:500 scale.

(more on the srounding at the site visit post).

The Full Presentation

The final presentation included a detailed sectional part of the project at a scale of 1:100, showing the unique passage with the different wall construction types.

the model shows the passage where it passes inside a class block splitting it in half. one side will be used for normal class rooms and the other for art&performance classes. the wall splits to create the different entrances, sitting corners and stairs patio area.

Potatos Tomatos

after the presentation I started work on the expansion and explanation of the unique space
which required me to start thinking on construction

This post was done as a video:

class video renders

for the next meeting I started work on a new approach, soft walls, that combine the "extrude" base from the mid-semester presentation model with the more full flowed feel from the riged model in the video above:

The 2nd "Midsemester" presentation

For the midsemester I presented my previous works and the new s.o.
the model and plan were centered on the new part.

Project Part

the graphical criticism was centered on the length of the second part which should be shorter for the final presentation.

Process Part

on cardboard the presentation doesn't look as good ..
for the next presentation it should be layout differently

Layout

the architectural discussion here was centered on the functionality of the recreation area of the s.o. and how such space can make unique areas not available in normal space.
for the next steps i drafted a few sketches to guide me on ...
