I first though about those concepts when I was dealing with program. I separated functions according to different privacy levels where, public is the are which visitors are invited to - such are the lecture halls and the cafeteria. the more private areas are the classes and workshops which are the territory of the students alone. these programmatic distinction made me divide the college in to areas of function and in to two major privacy area:
The building equator between private and public
for this exercise I decided to take a specific function and see how the different levels of privacy apply to it. The library is a public function which is adjacent to the public passage and still has more private areas.
the S.O. (see below) stretches from the main passage (public)
in to the public areas of the library.
The section shows the different areas of the library. the first schema shows the relations between the function the passage and the "edge" which is a new idea added to the building. (in purple).
below in the section there is the main hall with the public reading. a balcony with "more" private reading and a closed room for computer and digital research. at the edge the balcony stretches to an exterior reading area.

The presentation also included a first model of the S.O. but more as a firs step towards defining the formation material and relation of the element.
